Curses!!
Our dorm has been playing this game called "assassins" where the players are given someone to kill (within our dorm) and we have 24 hours to do so without being killed first. Once we kill our victim we are assigned to kill the victim that they were supposed to kill, and the process starts over until there is only 1 person left standing. Anyways... I died. lol. I fail at assassinations. I did successfully kill one of my friends though (we kill people by hitting them with a ball or a nerf dart or a rubber band or something). At least I wasn't first round kill. *shrugs* I'm satisfied. hehehe. Not to mention the fact that i'm still involved in sabotage... but you don't know that...
So I almost cut my fingers off the other day... OK so i'm being a TAD bit overly dramatic, but I did bash them up quite a bit. Kyla stole Molest-a-fish and started running out of the room with him and when I tried to follow, she started to close the door and accidentally caught my fingers in the process. Oops. Moms always warn us of these things, but do we listen? "Don't horse around! You'll poke an eye out!" or break a finger or 2. I went to the doctor and was told that had I come in the night it happened they would have put a few stitches in it, but it was too late. Now I'm getting a battle scar!! I feel tough! *jumps up and down* I also had an x-ray, but i'm fairly sure my fingers aren't broken (I'm not having trouble typing this).
I have found a new (and healthy!) addiction! Yesterday I went to the store and bought a sack of Clemintine Tangerines. I am hooked. I've had the little things before, but never bought them. Now it's like every time I sit down at this desk I have to eat one.... mmmmmm.... or 3. It could be worse. I could be feeding my caffine addiction. At least I won't be coming down with a cold any time soon.
Not too much new here. I've been working on my take-home midterm paper that's due monday. It's not gonna be extremely hard, I'm just afraid i'll leave something out. meh.
Ladies I have learned that if you want to get attention from boys, bake cookies and hand them out in their dorm. Some of my friends and I baked cookies and had a bunch of extra ones (they were HOT!), so we walked around and gave them to unsuspecting Beets (their dorm) boys. There were more than a few pick up lines used... haha. It was amusing.
uuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhh....... That's all. My life isn't extremely interesting. =P
By the way...
Bri: LAKATSK8TR@aol.com is my aol sn, but I haven't used it in years.... Creepy! How did I meet you freshman year? I don't remember anything about Canada... hehe. it's wierd how inter-connected everyone on this planet really is...
Love y'all!

Love Sac!
To all those who just resumed college life: Welcome back to reality... To the rest of us who have been at if for a few weeks now: Happy Wednesday! =D
I've added some new pictures to Flicker, so go check them out! I can only upload so many each month so this will be it till February. Now I know that some of you are probably pretty excited to have pictures of yourselves on the internet... Some of you will probably use this opportunity to try to get dates... You might even gain some secret internet admirers, or a stalker or (gasp! could it be?) an INTERNET significant other!... I know it's hard, but please try to contain your excitement...
Just as a general announcement: WE NOW HAVE A LOVE SAC !!! I have to say that i've never been happier in my life. I love my love sac and it loves me. It's a wonderful relationship. Come by sometime and have a sit... Unless you are one of the unfortunate people who wants to steal Molest-a-fish or Barney the Oracle. I know who you are and where you sleep!
I'm trying every option I can possibly think of that will keep me from doing my DCM reading... So far it's working. I really like the class i'm in. It has a good topic and decent discussions. It's also nice to start class early and have the afternoon and evening free... Even so, 4 hours of reading is an awful lot! I'm procrastinating pretty badly right now. I should go soon and finnish it, but I told 2 people i'd post today so I'm keeping my promise. Not much else new here... The Love Sac is pretty darn exciting. I also have new speakers! It's a constant party up in 260 Veenstra. Rock.
By the way...
Joel: Have you changed your name to "Noah Wylde" to create the illusion that you are some kind of secret literary man of mystery? Does this somehow feed your creative muse or do you just want an internet alter-ego? hehe. You guys amuse me. I miss you!
I miss my tag board, but I can't find a new one, and don't know enough html to make one...
**New post coming to God-Only-Knows very soon!!**

My Moment of Zen for the day:
(I just wrote this today)
The Dance
You bowed to kiss my hand
Your fingers gently brushed mine
And we drifted away
Moving as one
In a dream we've had
Hundreds of times before
Your surprise reflected in my eyes
But your smile lit your face
With such a startling brilliance and warmth
That it took my breath away
Time stood still.
Something within me broke away
In that beautiful moment of perfection
Beyond the realm of feeling
It was then that
I felt the tears
Soft on your cheek
And marveled at how precious they were.
Some melody
Ancient and haunting
Was welling up inside of us
Pulling us closer
Spinning us faster
Carrying us on angel's wings
To a higher place
Still untouched and untainted
By our created mortality
Dancing on heaven's doorstep
With the gates thrown open wide
It was then that you brushed a tear
From my cheek
And left a kiss in its place
Saying "angels never cry"
Yet I'd give up dancing forever
At heaven's door
If I could stay here in this moment
A moment more

Love you all, God Bless

What can I say...?
3 1/2 hours of class...
4+ hours of reading...
Feelings = dead
Time for relaxation/stress relief?
I think not.
I'm more sorry than you'll ever know. Take time, be angry, hate me if you like, but don't tell me that i'm not your friend. That hurts.
*sigh*
Probably my favorite song on the newest Jimmy Eat World Cd...
23
I felt for sure last night
At once we said goodbye
No one else will know these lonely dreams
No one else will know that part of me
Im still driving away
And Im sorry every day
I wont always love these selfish things
I wont always live...
Stop it...
It was my turn to decide
I knew this was our time
No one else will have me like you do
No one else will have me, only you
Youll sit alone forever
If you wait for the right time
What are you hoping for?
Im here and now Im ready
Holding on tight
Dont give away the end
The one thing that stays mine
Amazing still it seems
Ill be 23
I wont always love what Ill never have
I wont always live in my regrets
Youll sit alone forever

Dancing in the Moonlight
I'm in one of those wierd moods again... =D
I think the holiday food fest has started early. There's so much food around here lately. Like right now, for instance, there are 3 giant cookies sitting on my desk... Last night I ate 4... Didn't think I could eat that much did ya? ;-)
I'm really giddy today. I only have 1 final left, i've had a lot of sugar, i'm listening to dance music (Kyla and I occasionally break into random dancing), and I have this feeling that something good is going to happen today... I have absolutely no idea why, but I suppose I may have an idea by the end of the day...
Dancing sounds awesome right about now...
We get it almost every night
Everybody here is out of sight
They don?t bark and they don't bite
They keep things loose they keep it tight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybodys feeling warm and bright
Its such a fine and natural sight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight
We like our fun and we never fight
You can't dance and stay uptight
Its a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight
Time to do a little more studying I suppose....
or maybe not...
I can't concentrate right now
*hopes for a distraction*
Well, anyways... I'll talk to you kids later.
Peace!
Laura

Scene:
Laura, Christy, and Kyla sitting on the floor studying.
We have been sitting here cramming for exams since around 1pm this afternoon. Our butts are numb, our brains are numb, and we're beginning to fall asleep....
Laura: "I feel like a spider that was just drenched with Raid... The life is slowly draining out of me and i'm curling into a ball."
I think it's a perfectly accurate metaphor... metaphor: a comparison of one thing/situation to another. Used to help convey emotion or get a point across.... mmmm... One more day of english and i'm done...
The only phrases i'm getting out of anybody are "aaaaaagggggggghhhhhmmmm" followed by a long exhausted silence and then "I've been studying ALL DAY!" Kyla, Christy, and I finally cracked and went to dinner, but not before playing a few games of "airplane" in the hallway much to the amusement of our fellow floormates.
You know you must look like crap when the lunch lady tells you "you look exhausted!"
I can't wait till this is over and the load is lifted, but until then I suppose i'll just have to enjoy the ride.
Things to look foreward to:
FREE PIZZA TONIGHT!
Cookies!
Christmas!
my b-day!
end of 1st semester!
Omaha & Ohio friends! ;-)
family!
and so much more!
I love y'all! Good luck this week!

Dead week... Alive?
Good morning y'all and happy Monday the 13th! (hint hint) =P
I should be pretty tired considering it's almost 3am, but for some reason (could have to do with the the mountain dew I drank earlier. weeeee ha!) i'm awake. Heck, I could probably write 3 songs tonight! Maybe I should consider not sleeping to be God's way of giving me more hours in a day. Yeah, thats it.
Today will be spent creating a new and fairly large section of long term memory devoted to english and theology. I seek to gain knowledge, wisdom, unique insights, skills, and MOST importantly, a good grade on my final exams. So far, dead week is very much alive and kicking my butt. Speaking of which, my butt that is, I need to get to the friggin gym before I turn into a scrawny, defenseless little couch potato. eew. I think this is the first time in my life where my legs are actually skinny enough not to stretch out my pant legs... Oh the irony. I want my muscle back!
I was a minority today! The group that I go to church with went to an almost entirely black baptist church this morning, and it was wicked awesome. It really changes your perspective when you're one of 7 or 8 white people in a large congregation of African Americans. Something all of us little west Omaha kids should do sometime, not to mention the rest of the Michigan gang. I'll tell ya this; that preacher sure gave the words "preach it" a whole new meaning for me! The churches we've visited in the group that i'm in (called the Jesus Bus) really helped me better understand a better part of the spectrum of the Christian faith. It wasn't what i'm used to, but it felt good to step out of my little boxed in faith/worship style. We've visited quite a few denominations, and I think that i'll continue to do that throughout my life. Who knows, maybe a friend and I will even take that trip to Rome one day and talk to the Pope about more communication between the denominations. Now there's a hurdle. I guess we'll just have to see what God does...
Well I suppose I should try to sleep at some point tonight, this no-sleeping thing will only be acceptable on my honeymoon.. I mean what? *looks around* 0=)
Good luck with finals everyone and if I don't see ya, have a very Merry Christmas and a happy/safe New Year!
May His peace and joy be with you now and throughout the year!
Much Love,
Laura
