Dancing in the Moonlight

I'm in one of those wierd moods again... =D

I think the holiday food fest has started early. There's so much food around here lately. Like right now, for instance, there are 3 giant cookies sitting on my desk... Last night I ate 4... Didn't think I could eat that much did ya? ;-)

I'm really giddy today. I only have 1 final left, i've had a lot of sugar, i'm listening to dance music (Kyla and I occasionally break into random dancing), and I have this feeling that something good is going to happen today... I have absolutely no idea why, but I suppose I may have an idea by the end of the day...

Dancing sounds awesome right about now...

We get it almost every night
Everybody here is out of sight
They don?t bark and they don't bite
They keep things loose they keep it tight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight

Dancing in the moonlight
Everybodys feeling warm and bright
Its such a fine and natural sight
Everybodys dancing in the moonlight

We like our fun and we never fight
You can't dance and stay uptight
Its a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight

Time to do a little more studying I suppose....
or maybe not...
I can't concentrate right now
*hopes for a distraction*

Well, anyways... I'll talk to you kids later.

Peace!

Scene:
Laura, Christy, and Kyla sitting on the floor studying.
We have been sitting here cramming for exams since around 1pm this afternoon. Our butts are numb, our brains are numb, and we're beginning to fall asleep....

Laura: "I feel like a spider that was just drenched with Raid... The life is slowly draining out of me and i'm curling into a ball."

I think it's a perfectly accurate metaphor... metaphor: a comparison of one thing/situation to another. Used to help convey emotion or get a point across.... mmmm... One more day of english and i'm done...

The only phrases i'm getting out of anybody are "aaaaaagggggggghhhhhmmmm" followed by a long exhausted silence and then "I've been studying ALL DAY!" Kyla, Christy, and I finally cracked and went to dinner, but not before playing a few games of "airplane" in the hallway much to the amusement of our fellow floormates.

You know you must look like crap when the lunch lady tells you "you look exhausted!"

I can't wait till this is over and the load is lifted, but until then I suppose i'll just have to enjoy the ride.

Things to look foreward to:

FREE PIZZA TONIGHT!
Cookies!
Christmas!
my b-day!
end of 1st semester!
Omaha & Ohio friends! ;-)
family!
and so much more!

I love y'all! Good luck this week!

Laura

Dead week... Alive?

Good morning y'all and happy Monday the 13th! (hint hint) =P

I should be pretty tired considering it's almost 3am, but for some reason (could have to do with the the mountain dew I drank earlier. weeeee ha!) i'm awake. Heck, I could probably write 3 songs tonight! Maybe I should consider not sleeping to be God's way of giving me more hours in a day. Yeah, thats it.

Today will be spent creating a new and fairly large section of long term memory devoted to english and theology. I seek to gain knowledge, wisdom, unique insights, skills, and MOST importantly, a good grade on my final exams. So far, dead week is very much alive and kicking my butt. Speaking of which, my butt that is, I need to get to the friggin gym before I turn into a scrawny, defenseless little couch potato. eew. I think this is the first time in my life where my legs are actually skinny enough not to stretch out my pant legs... Oh the irony. I want my muscle back!

I was a minority today! The group that I go to church with went to an almost entirely black baptist church this morning, and it was wicked awesome. It really changes your perspective when you're one of 7 or 8 white people in a large congregation of African Americans. Something all of us little west Omaha kids should do sometime, not to mention the rest of the Michigan gang. I'll tell ya this; that preacher sure gave the words "preach it" a whole new meaning for me! The churches we've visited in the group that i'm in (called the Jesus Bus) really helped me better understand a better part of the spectrum of the Christian faith. It wasn't what i'm used to, but it felt good to step out of my little boxed in faith/worship style. We've visited quite a few denominations, and I think that i'll continue to do that throughout my life. Who knows, maybe a friend and I will even take that trip to Rome one day and talk to the Pope about more communication between the denominations. Now there's a hurdle. I guess we'll just have to see what God does...

Well I suppose I should try to sleep at some point tonight, this no-sleeping thing will only be acceptable on my honeymoon.. I mean what? *looks around* 0=)

Good luck with finals everyone and if I don't see ya, have a very Merry Christmas and a happy/safe New Year!

May His peace and joy be with you now and throughout the year!

Much Love,
Laura
